The subjunctive is formed by taking the first person present conjugation, dropping the o and adding -e, -es, -e, -emos, -éis, -en for -ar ending verbs and -a, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an for -er and -ir ending verbs.

hablo → habl → hable, hables, hable, hablemos, habléis, hablen
como → com → coma, comas, coma, comamos, comáis, coman

First Person Irregulars

The verbs that are irregular in the first person singular might appear irregular at first sight. However they all follow the same pattern.

Irregular Verbs

These verbs have completely irregular conjugations in the subjunctive.

Stem Changing Verbs

Many of the stem changing verbs are irregular in the nosotros and vosotros forms. For verbs endings in -er and -ar, the conjugations revert to using a form based on the infinitive.

-ir ending stem changing verbs

This isn't the case for -ir ending verbs.
