Yo rompi un espejo. Tendrá siete años de mala suerte.

  Raise her hands in the air. Levanta sus manos en el aire.
She lowered the baby into his bed. Ella bajó al niño hasta su cama. (puso al niño en su cama)
rise - rose
 

Raise is always followed by an object while rise is never followed by an object.

  The vampire rose out of the coffin.
 
  The sun always rises.
