Les Adverbes Adverbs

French adverbs are usually formed by adding -mente to the end of feminine adjectives.

heureuse
heureusement happily
parfaite
parfaitement perfectly
facile
facilement easily
rapide
rapidement rapidly
franche
franchement frankly        

  Un jour, vous voyez parler français parfaitement.
One day you will speak French perfectly.
  Elle parle rapidement.
She speaks quickly.

When très is thrown in the mix, -ment is not added.

  Elle parle très rapide. She speaks very quick.

There is a good number of adverbs that don't end in -mente.

  bien well beaucoup much
  mal badly peu little
      assez

enough


  Tu parles très bien. You speak very well.
  Luc mange peu, comme un oiseux. Phillipe mange beaucoup, comme un morse.
  Luc eats little, like a bird. Phillip eats a lot, like a walrus.
